Privacy Policy
The short version: on the free plan, nothing you record ever reaches us - it stays encrypted on your Mac. On Pro, your notes are encrypted on your device before they sync, so our servers only ever hold ciphertext we cannot read. We never sell your data, never show ads, and never use your content to train AI - ours or anyone else's.
Who we are

What we collect - and what we can't
Free plan. Transcription runs entirely on your Mac and your notes are encrypted and stored only on your device. There is no account, no Privt ID, and no record on our servers that you exist. We collect nothing.
Pro plan (optional). To back up and sync your notes, our servers store:
- your encrypted note blobs - ciphertext we cannot decrypt;
- a random 8-character Privt ID (no name and no email are required to create one);
- your subscription status (free or Pro, and when it renews or lapses);
- a small amount of sync metadata: a random item id, whether an item is a note or a meeting, a version count, ciphertext sizes, and update timing coarsened to the day (never the minute or second);
- standard server logs (IP address and browser/user-agent at our edge), kept briefly to run the service and prevent abuse.
Optional contact email. You may choose to attach an email for verification or notices. It is optional, deletable at any time, and destroyed if you use your burn code. We never require it.
Payments. Pro is billed through Stripe. We never see or store your card details; Stripe processes the payment and holds the payment record under its own terms.
Speech model. On first run the app downloads the on-device speech model from our content host (with a fallback host if ours is unreachable). This is a file download only - no audio or text is ever sent.
This website. We use no third-party advertising or cross-site tracking. Our servers log standard request data (as above).
What we can never see
- Your voice. Audio is transcribed on your Mac's Neural Engine and never leaves the device.
- Your notes. They are encrypted on your device before any sync, so we hold only ciphertext.
- Your keys. Your passphrase and encryption keys never leave your device. We cannot read, reset, or recover them.
How we use what we hold
Only to provide the service: to sync your encrypted notes, run your subscription, and keep the service secure. We do not sell your data, share it for advertising, or use it to train machine-learning models.
Legal requests
If we receive a legally binding order through the proper legal process, we can produce only what we actually hold: encrypted blobs and the minimal metadata listed above. We cannot produce your note content or your keys, because we never have them.
Keeping and deleting your data
Free plan. Everything lives on your Mac. Deleting a note, or removing the app, removes it.
Pro plan. Deleting a note is a crypto-shred - its key is destroyed and the ciphertext becomes mathematically unrecoverable, not merely marked deleted. Your burn code destroys every key we hold and wipes each signed-in device the next time it connects. Server logs are retained only briefly. Payment records are retained by Stripe as required for tax and accounting.
Your choices
Your notes live on your device under your control - you can export or delete them at any time, and you can delete your account or use your burn code to erase everything we hold. For any request, email [email protected].
Children
Privt Voice is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
If we update this policy we will post the new version here with a revised date.
